If you are considering custom interior design, you probably already know that you want something more. Something unique. Something that doesn’t look like every other new build or remodel looks right this second. And I’m here to tell you AI won’t easily get you there. For this reason, my designs are never, and I repeat, never, done using AI.

AI pulls from what’s already well-represented online and so it can’t help that its images of interiors start to all look the same. Another important thing to note is that while AI can make a pretty picture, it cannot tell that you have a dog who splashes his water bowl around, that you host 12 for book club each month, or that your wife is 5’2” and needs the dishes to be within arm’s reach. When working with me, however, these are all factors that are taken into consideration when creating a design for your home.

When do I use AI? I am “had to pull over and find a payphone to call my husband’s pager” years old, so not very often. But I wouldn’t be opposed to entering the materials and finishes that have already been selected into an image generator if a client needs a little extra help visualizing. So far, it has not been needed. The 3D renderings in Design Phase 1 and material boards in Design Phase 2 have thus far been sufficient for every one of our clients to approve our designs.

I also want to mention that these blog posts, as well as my emails each month, are completely written by me. I will be honest though. If you go back and read all my blogs, especially from early last year, I had started using some of the AI suggested wording. But I quickly realized that, although the ideas were mine, it was no longer in my voice when ChatGPT made it sound more “professional.” I’ve noticed other blogs that I follow switching to AI generated copy and I can’t say I like it.

My mission for my clients in interior design is to be authentic. It only makes sense that my emails and blogs are, too. So just know that anything written by me is, in fact, written by me, to be informational and inspirational when it comes to the design of your home or office.

Create flow
Bring vetted trades
Project manage

A truly well designed room doesn’t come from an AI prompt. The best interiors are the result of thoughtful planning, creative sourcing, and hundreds of tiny decisions that take into account how you live and how you want your home to feel for years to come.
